why make the GFA?The idea for an archive of Guts Frisbee photos and videos was born from the efforts of Craig ‘Buck’ Buchanan of Marquette, Michigan and the following will be in his memory.
Around the time of the 50th International Frisbee Tournament (IFT), Buck started collecting photos and videos from anyone he could. Buck spent a lot of his own time on this project and even hired Northern Michigan University students to help with digitalizing the various photos. His original idea was to have these all put on DVD’s for distribution, but for enhanced accessibility, we decided to provide it all on a free website (called the Guts Frisbee Archive (GFA)) for everyone to easily access, reminisce, and maybe even reconnect. With this more contemporary idea, you will be able to view and download content, contact the site managers to have your photos and videos added to the website, make comments, ask/answer questions, and spread the love of Guts and all of it’s memories. As time passes, Buck’s family will continue to update and maintain the website for everyone to use. Hopefully this will be a website that will generate a lot of discussions, help old friends connect, and bring in some new players (maybe some sons and daughters or more likely grandsons and granddaughters). |
